Drove to Lake George Beach where there were paddle steamer cruises and toursit shops. Had a big ice cream. Drove back to Glens Falls to the cinema just in time to get in for Jurassic Park $6.75. Afterwards we drove around and found a Chinese restaurant - 'Best in New York State'. V good Wanton soup then roast pork egg foo yung and chinese tea $7.25.

At the end of the toll road just outside Buffalo we had to pay $8.45. We took the 290N, then the 62N looking for an Econolodge.

Found another motel first - Blue Dolphin $62 - friendly owner who gave us leaflets and information about Niagra Falls. We drove along the 62N and got there at 4.30pm. Sunny. Walked along the pavement near the falls then got a lift to a higher observation point.

Went down for a 'Maid of the Mist' boat trip, with waterproofs provided.

Went past the American falls to the Horeshoe falls. We went in really close. So much mist here you could not see the waterfall in some places. Quite choppy. Nice rainbows.

Afterwards we walked back to the car but decided to have a look at a factory outlet bargain centre. Bought a tie and some CD's (not really bargains). Drove to the Canadian side over Rainbow Bridge 75c and got passport stamped. Parked near the Skylon Tower and got the lift to the top 770ft up. It was now 9.15pm. Had an orange ice cream which was on special offer and coffee.

Drove on the 380E then 80E through forested rolling hills - hardly any cars on the road. Stopped at a scenic viewpoint, but it was too hazy to take a photo. Drove on the 280E which was a busy four lane highway. Took a turn off as we neared New York but it looked like a poor neighbourhood and it was clear we had taken a turn off too early (possibly East Orange), so rejoined a main road South for a few miles and took another exit into the Kenilworth district and were very releived and amazed to see a Holiday Inn sign [can't find the exact place now].

We checked in OK ($72) then had a dip in the pool. At 7.00pm we walked out to see what restaurants were around and eventually decided on an Italian. We were the only ones in.
